In this course we will consider the ways colours are used in Pop Art through examining the exhibition From Warhol to Banksy. We’ll begin with an introduction to basic colour theory and work through some of the assignments in Josef Albers’ influential 1963 text, the Interaction of Color. Albers believed that it was important to understand the elasticity of colour and how colour can be both beguiling and deceptive. We will then combine and apply these ideas to your own paintings.
