Throughout history, folding screens have served both decorative and functional purposes. Multi-paneled partitions were once commonplace in domestic environments. They provided shelter from the elements, protection from drafts, and shields against sunlight and heat. Inspired by the Japanese screen, Peacocks and Pine Trees (Screen from Nijo Castle, Kyoto) Kano Sanraku,1620, in the permanent collection, families will enjoy creating a miniature folding screen together. Each family member will paint their own panel to reflect their unique story and experiences, creating a special collaborative family artwork. All materials and supplies are provided. Space is limited; register early to reserve your spot.
